Larry G Halloway Scholarship
Larry G. Holloway was born on March 7, 1950 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. While at the University of South Dakota Larry G. Holloway was initiated into the Delta Kappa Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America on March 1, 1970. Following his graduation from the University of South Dakota, Larry G. Holloway began teaching music in South Dakota for eight years before moving to Carson City, Nevada. While living in Carson City, Holloway taught at Eagle Valley Middle School for many years. In 2000, Larry G. Holloway became the Band Director of Carson High School. Throughout his career and life Larry G. Holloway worked to advance music in America, and in so doing, inspired and touched the lives of many. He advanced music in Nevada by helping to create the Carson City Symphony, and worked with the Carson City Community Theater and Brewery Arts Center.
In recognizing the immense contribution of Larry G. Holloway to music, and in an effort to continue the advancement of music in Nevada, the Xi Delta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at the University of Nevada, Reno, dedicates this scholarship to the memory of Larry G. Holloway.
